Tumblr is an awesome way to get traffic to your site and surprisingly underused. First we’re going to show you how to use Tumblr to get traffic for free and then a way to automate this with a bot to bring in the real money.
Before we get started, here are some good tips for Tumblr:
- Links, links and more links – you need your links to be everywhere. You should have a link in your profile, a banner ad with your link on it and links under all your posts.
- Starting Conversations – having conversations with you audience on Tumblr is a great way to build trust. When someone trusts you and is friends with you, it makes promoting content and offers to them so easily.
- VIP Audience – Send your best viewers special content early. Viewers who are already engaged with your Tumblr account can be very valuable in promoting your content. Treating these viewers like VIPs will make them promote your stuff even more, buy your products and get involved in the comments.
- Being Consistent – You have to do this stuff everyday. Consistency is king here.
- Ask For Feedback – sending messages to your viewers asking for feedback is a great way to build relationships, make them think you care about their opinion (building trust and loyalty) and to actually get some feedback on your Tumblr.
How To Gain Followers
There are four main ways of gaining followers:
- Following people
- Liking
- Tags
- Messaging (Not recommended)
Following People
On Tumblr (and other social media) by following people, people will follow you back. If you follow 200 people everyday you should be able to build your own following pretty quickly.
Liking
Liking other peoples posts helps get you views. It can also lead to people following you. Just like around 200 peoples posts a day (gradually) and you will bring in a lot of views.
Tags
Tags are pretty important in Tumblr so you’re going to want to keep an eye on them. Tags get your post extra visibility and will bring in more followers. Test to see which tags in your niche bring in the most views for different content you have. You don’t want to be missing out on traffic by not using tags properly.
Messages
I don’t recommend doing this method, but by messaging people you’ll get their attention and they will most likely check out your blog. I have also found they usually get curious and go through your links to look at your websites and products as well. This method only works in certain niches and if you do it in a spammy way you will get a lot of hate, so be careful if you choose to use this method.
How To Automate
Automation
Okay so you probably have a life and don’t want to spend all day on Tumblr to get traffic. To automate this you need to get this bot. It is the best Tumblr bot I have ever used and the traffic you get from it more than makes up the cost.
Note: you can manage do this manually but, not with very many accounts. If doing manually you should try and build up a few accounts with a large following, this is hard to do.
Proxies
When running multiple accounts you will need proxies to avoid getting banned. Two accounts per proxy is the number I use. I get my proxies at SquidProxies.
The Set Up
I find it much easier to just buy the accounts. You can set them up yourself but this is quite a lot of effort for something which you can buy off Fiverr for $5. If you don’t already have Fiverr if you sign up through this link you get your first gig for free. To start of with between 10 and 20 accounts is a good number, if you are confident you can go for more.
Now you have your accounts you need to set them up. For every blog you need to: upload profile picture, upload cover photo, write a bio, add a picture theme and allow people to send messages in the settings.
Using a picture theme is important since photos will be the easiest content to mass produce.
The Bot
TumblingJazz is the bot I use and the best I know of.
This bot allows you to automate all the tasks which would otherwise take up your time.

You can use TumblingJazz to scrape images (or you can get images manually). Then use these images for your content and just put your own description and links below.
I’m not going to go into detail on how to use the bot as there are a few guides online for this and it’s much easier if you learn by using it.
How To Not Get Banned:
- Leave the account 1 day before posting anything.
- Start small with activity (posts, likes and follows) then gradually increase.
- Don’t have too much activity, too much activity and Tumblr will ban your account.
- Don’t have all you eggs in one basket – you want to have your followers spread out across multiple accounts in case you get banned, I have friends who have been banned without using any bot software.
- Use proxies. Two accounts per proxy is safe, you can try more if you want.
Monetization
This is a topic we will be covering in a lot more detail in other posts. But for now, here are the steps to make money by promoting affiliate offers:
- Go to Clickbank and sign up
- Pick niche related items to promote
- Attach a description with the affiliate link under every image you post (or a link to your website and promote it from there)
- Everytime someone clicks and buys you will get a % commission.
I have found this works pretty good in fashion, beauty tattoo, self help and fitness niches.
